Look Good… Feel Better is a foundation that was started in America and is now offered as a service through the CTFA (Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association) in 14 countries around the world. The project was launched in South Africa in May 2004 and is dedicated to helping women cancer patients who are going through the rigours of cancer treatment and the visible side-effects.

The programme comprises a series of free beauty/make-over workshops through a network of hospitals and clinics across South Africa, where trained beauty professionals take small groups of patients through a 12-step skin care and make-up regime. The objective is to teach these cancer patients, through hands-on experience, techniques to help restore their appearances and self image after surgery as well as during chemotherapy and radiation treatment. The sessions are lots of fun and a real morale booster. It’s true what they say…if you look good, you do feel a whole lot better!
